I have loved art since I was a young girl, but I never had the chance to go any art universities because my parents didn't allow me to, despite my full scholarship. My neighbor introduced me to an art tutor that helped me about 40 years ago. I practiced for about 7 years. After high school, I went on to become a nurse and went to medical school. I collected pictures of art from magazines, newspapers, even books, eventually learning how to sew and knit as well.
After 3 years of work as an M.D., I went to Vienna, Austria and worked for 7 years as a nurse. I started to paint with oil and silk in my free time. During the 7 years I have lived in Vienna, I didn't have a lot of time or the right conditions to draw and paint, but I visited art museums almost every week. I studied old masterpieces and classic art, saw royal porcelain, and even walked the streets to enjoy different kinds of art through windows. It made me more passionate about art. I wished I was an artist every day.
Since I came to the U.S., I had a very hard time living my life, with no opportunities to continue my hobbies, especially with my husband and 5 kids. Just a few months ago, I got a membership at the Shrewsbury Art Guild. Suddenly, I felt this was the right time to start my passion. Then I started to draw with pencil every day, drawing anything and everything I saw. I got a lot of wonderful comments from people that saw my work on Artist Daily. This increased my confidence enough to become an artist.
I am very happy and honored to show my artwork. I like all kinds of art, including wall art, silk, wood, glass, porcelain, watercolor, and ink. I have learned to love crafts like sewing, knitting, and making jewelry. I mainly work with oil and pencil. My artwork has a lot of landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, still life, and figures as well as portraits. My artwork is supposed to be a natural version of what I see, with a couple of signature twists, like more vibrant colors. My husband and I now have a company known as "Yuquan Natural Herbs Center, Inc." Our goal is to take care of personal and customer needs, to make them happy and satisfied with the quality of our work.
